1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of MatchyMatch ("we", "us"), accessible at https://matchymatch.co.uk/. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.

MatchyMatch is operated by Thrive Haven Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16319387). Registered office: 22 Waltham Road, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ12 1LH, United Kingdom.

2. What MatchyMatch does

MatchyMatch is a matching platform that connects people seeking therapy with verified, licensed UK therapists registered with HCPC, BACP, BPS or UKCP. We facilitate discovery calls, scheduling, and payments, but we are not the provider of therapeutic services. Therapy is provided by independent therapists who are solely responsible for the clinical content of their sessions.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account as a client. For users under 18, parental or legal guardian consent is required. Therapists must be currently registered with a recognised UK regulatory body and provide proof on request.

4. Account and security

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You must provide accurate information during registration and keep it up to date.
  • You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

5. Discovery calls and bookings

Discovery calls are free 15-minute introductions with a therapist and create no obligation to book a paid session. Paid sessions are booked via the platform at the price set by the therapist. Once you book a paid session, the contract for therapy is between you and the therapist; MatchyMatch facilitates payment but is not party to the therapy itself.

6. Pricing and payment

Prices are displayed in pound sterling (GBP) inclusive of any applicable VAT. Payment is taken at the time of booking via Stripe. By providing payment details you authorise us (or our payment processor) to charge the relevant amount.

7. Cancellations and refunds

Each therapist sets their own cancellation policy, which is shown before you book. Generally:

  • Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the session are eligible for a full refund.
  • Cancellations made within 24 hours may incur a fee, set by the therapist.
  • If a therapist cancels a session, you receive a full refund or may rebook.

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel a contract within 14 days of entering it. However, by booking a session that takes place within that 14-day window and consenting to begin the service, you acknowledge that the right of withdrawal will be lost once the session is delivered.

8. Therapist responsibilities

Therapists must hold and maintain valid registration with their regulatory body, hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance, and conduct sessions in line with their professional code of ethics. Therapists are responsible for the clinical care they provide and for compliance with their regulatory body's requirements.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Harass, threaten or abuse other users.
  • Misrepresent your identity or qualifications.
  • Attempt to bypass payment by arranging sessions off-platform after using MatchyMatch to find a therapist.
  • Scrape, copy, or otherwise extract data from the platform without permission.

10. Intellectual property

All content on MatchyMatch (text, design, logos, software) is owned by us or our licensors and protected by UK and international IP laws. You may not reproduce, modify, or distribute it without permission.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited under UK law. Subject to that:

  • MatchyMatch is not liable for the clinical content of therapy sessions, which is the responsibility of the individual therapist.
  • Our total liability for any claim arising under or in connection with these terms is limited to the total amount you have paid to us (excluding amounts paid through to therapists) in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profits, or loss of data, except where required by law.

12. Emergencies and risk

MatchyMatch is not an emergency service. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, dial 999 or contact the Samaritans on 116 123. Therapists on this platform are not available 24/7.

13. Termination

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, subject to your statutory rights.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice and will take effect 30 days after notice unless you are required to accept them sooner to continue using the service.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
